We are but tiny specs on the surface of this beautiful planet. We are all connected, and our collective energy has more power than our individul efforts. Despite the terrible events of the last few weeks - the Nepal Earthquake in particular - there is good news that we could and should focus on.
Recently, Dan Price, CEO of Gravity, a Credit Processing company in the US, gave all his employees a pay rise to US$70,000. His research had found that this was the level of income needed for most people to be comfortable and happy, enjoying a decent standard of living. Above that did not make a huge difference. He himself took a pay cut from over $1 million to $70,000. Of course critics claimed that it was just a publicity stunt - but I believe that it was a genuine effort to be a compassionate and clever leader.
Can we change Corporate Culture so more CEOs follow his example? Imagine what loyalty his employees would now have. Also imagine the impact on employee productivity!
